Emotional Truth’

One Day Acting Workshop -with Briony Dunn

Location: Level One, 14 Raglan St, Nth Melbourne

Experienced and Intermediates. 18yrs+

Cost: $130

If you are an actor who would like to approach demanding physical and character roles with a renewed confidence, this workshop is for you.

In this intensive one-day workshop participants will work through a range of exercises as individuals, in pairs and as a group. Comfort zones, strengths and habits as a performer will be identified and unpacked.

A range of emotional states and inner physical languages, and the effect these have on storytelling within performance, will be thoroughly explored.

Performers will increase their ability to shift their inner physical pace, thereby extending their repertoire as actors.

All students will be issued an ACOPA certificate of attainment upon completion of the course.

Requirements: Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a notebook, pen and bottle of water to each class.

As this is a one-day workshop there will be no performance at the end of this course.

In this course you will:

· Examine how to increase the depth and quality of your performance without forcing emotion

· Open up the power of your physical presence through practical techniques

· Achieve a new level of believability in your acting work

· Further expand your actors toolkit for how to approach a high-stakes scene

· Explore applying these new techniques to character development and scene work

 

Introduction to Auditioning

One day Workshop with Natalie Coleman

Location: Downstairs Gallery, 14 Raglan St, Nth Melbourne

Beginners and Intermediates. 15+

Cost: $130

This workshop will give you a well-rounded knowledge and introduction to auditioning. Perfect for the beginner or those returning to the industry, this workshop will ensure you are prepared for every scenario.

*We understand that parents often wish to gain valuable knowledge to best support their children wishing to pursue a career in the industry. Parents are welcome to join the workshop with their children free of charge.

All students will be issued an ACOPA certificate of attainment upon completion of the course.

Requirements: Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a notebook, pen and bottle of water to each class. All course material will be provided.

This workshop will cover:

  • Understanding types of auditions and what to expect
  • Understanding the role of the casting agent and agent
  • Auditioning as a freelance artist
  • How to get an audition
  • Age range
  • Audition preparation
  • Knowing your product
  • Do’s and don’ts in the casting room
  • Working to camera in an audition setting
  • Understanding how to read and interpret a script for the audition room
  • Blocking and continuity

 

Creative Movement and Choreography

2 hr intensive Dance Workshop with Sheena Chundee

Location: Downstairs Gallery, 14 Raglan St, Nth Melbourne

Beginners and Intermediates. Ages: 18+

Cost: $65

These sessions will encourage students to develop their own choreographic  ideas guided by the instructor.

This is a workshop that allows dancers to discover their own creativity and how to incorporate that into a finished piece. The workshop is based around free movement, shapes, patterns and movements that come naturally to the dancers involved.

Participants will explore floor patterns, sequencing, musicality, solo, partner, and group work.

Requirements: Comfortable dance clothing, dance shoes of any kind (or barefoot) and water.

 

‘Introduction to Shakespeare Performance’

One day Workshop with Emily Georgiadis

Location: Downstairs Gallery, 14 Raglan St, Nth Melbourne

Experience – Open. Ages 12+

Cost: $130

Students will gain skills to perform monologues and scenes from Shakespeare’s plays by breaking down the structure and meaning behind his work. Participants will gain confidence with performing by developing a range of acting techniques to bring Shakespeare’s written language to life. Participants will further explore the world of Shakespeare by drawing upon the history of the Elizabethan culture.

This is a course designed for participants both requiring assistance with a Shakespeare performance as well as those who require further training.

Requirements: Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a notebook, pen and bottle of water to each class.

As this is a one-day workshop there will be no performance at the end of this course.

In this workshop you will:

  • Analyse text to understand the meaning behind Shakespeare’s language
  • Use your own interpretation to paraphrase Shakespeare’s work
  • Participate in vocal techniques to use for a theatre performance
  • Understand character and motivation to portray believability on stage
  • Develop ways to enhance stage presence and physical awareness in a scene

All students will be issued an ACOPA certificate of attainment upon completion of the course.

 

‘Comedy and Improvisation’

One day Workshop with Emily Georgiadis

Location: Downstairs Gallery, 14 Raglan St, Nth Melbourne

Experience – Open. Ages 12+

Cost: $130

In this workshop the participants will explore the basics of improvising by following the structure of an improvised performance and using a range of acting exercises that explore imagination, creativity and spontaneity. Students will understanding how to make choices and gain confidence in presenting their ideas. Students will further participate in a range of theatresports activities to apply their learning.

This is a course designed for beginners as well as those who require further training in developing improvising techniques.

Requirements: Please wear comfortable clothing, and bring a notebook, pen and bottle of water to each class.

As this is a one-day workshop there will be no performance at the end of this course.

In this workshop you will:

  • Learn how think on your feet, accept offers and adapt to a variety of situations
  • Gain strategies to create long-lasting improvised scenes
  • Develop character with vocal and physical acting techniques
  • Develop storytelling techniques and listening skills to find truth in the comedy
  • Work individually in groups to create an improvised performance

All students will be issued an ACOPA certificate of attainment upon completion of the course.
